Chief Executive Officer
Susan joined HealthSouth in 1994 and has worked in rehabilitation since 1990. Prior to starting her current position, Susan held regional responsibilities in the area of business development. She is the chair of the Medical Division Committee for the Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Providers (PARF) and a member of the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania (HAP). Susan holds a bachelor’s degree from Elizabethtown College and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. She lives in State College with her husband and two children. Locally, Susan is proud to serve on the board of directors of Centre Volunteers in Medicine.
Richard Allatt, M.D.
Dr. Allatt has served on the HealthSouth Nittany Valley team since 1995. He offers special expertise in back pain treatment, sports medicine and musculoskeletal medicine. Dr. Allatt earned his medical degree from McMaster University Medical School in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He completed his residency in family medicine at McMaster, followed by a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at The University of Ottawa in Canada. He is certified by The Royal College in Canada and The American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Medical Society.
Richard Allat, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.
Director of Therapy Operations
Nickol joined HealthSouth Nittany Valley Rehabilitation Hospital in November 2012. Nickol holds her master's degree in physical therapy from Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania. She has more than 12 years of professional experience and has enjoyed all aspects of patient care. Nickol's experience includes work within acute inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, skilled nursing care, outpatient care, home health care, and multiple pediatric settings. Nickol is a new member of the State College community and she and her family are enjoying the benefits of its cultural and eclectic surroundings.
Chief Nursing Officer
Sue has earned undergraduate degrees in psychology and nursing from College Misericordia in Dallas, Pennsylvania, and earned her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix. Sue holds management certificates from the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania and Villanova University. She has worked in various nursing settings including medical/surgical, hospice, geriatrics, home health and psychiatry. Sue is also a certified aromatherapist and has worked closely with cancer patients and psychiatric patients. She has conducted research on the effects of complementary therapies with various patient populations. Sue resides in Pleasant Gap with her husband Nelson.
Director of Marketing Operations
Tracy joined HealthSouth Nittany Valley Rehabilitation Hospital in May 2009 as director of marketing operations and is responsible for admissions and business development. She has worked in a variety of roles in the acute care hospital setting including staff nurse and manager of emergency services, in addition to long-term care, assisted living administrator and regional operations director. Tracy has a bachelor's degree in nursing from The Pennsylvania State University School of Nursing and she is currently enrolled in the master's of health sciences program at Saint Francis University.
Director of Case Management
Linda joined the HealthSouth Nittany Valley team in 1989 and has served as director of case management for the past nine years. In cooperation with the interdisciplinary care group, she leads the team responsible for coordinating safe and effective discharge transitions. Previously Linda held a variety of other roles at HealthSouth including; staff nurse, charge nurse, director of nursing, RNAC for a swing bed unit, and case manager. She attended Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing.
Human Resources Director
Michelle Katz joined HealthSouth in April 2013 as human resources director. She has over 15 years of experience in human resources and employment law in a variety of settings. Michelle holds a B.A. from the University of Alabama and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center. She serves as secretary of the Human Resources Association of Centre County and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. Michelle resides in State College with her husband and two children.
Director of Quality and Risk Management
Dave has been with HealthSouth since 1996 and has served as the director of quality and risk management since 1999. He champions patient and family concerns, working with all appropriate staff to ensure the hospital is continuously improving its patient experience. He serves on the employee activities committee and patient experience group at the hospital. Dave received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Penn State University.
Alan joined HealthSouth Nittany Valley Rehabilitation Hospital in November 2012. Prior to coming to Nittany Valley, Alan was the controller for HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, since 2001 when he joined HealthSouth. Prior to his rehabilitation experience, Alan worked for a variety of for-profit healthcare providers since 1998. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Houston. He enjoys various outdoor activities and resides in Bellefonte with his wife Keri.
Supervisor Administrative Support
Patty has worked at HealthSouth since 1990 in a variety of positions, making her a valuable voice on the senior management team. Patty oversees the switchboard operations and coordinates the support for the senior leadership team. She lives in Philipsburg with her husband and three children.
