A Higher Level of CareĀ®

Higher level of care

Becoming a part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program can make all the difference in how quickly you can return home and get back to your community following an illness or injury.

In making the right choice for your best rehabilitation outcome, it’s important to know the differences between an acute rehabilitation hospital and other post-acute setting, like a nursing home or an assisted living center. When it comes to rehabilitation, acute care rehabilitation hospitals hold a clear advantage over other settings.

Outcomes vary, depending on the facility

Acute rehabilitation hospitals, like our hospital, offer distinct advantages in the level of care and services over nursing homes and assisted living centers. Once you compare placement options, we feel confident you will choose our hospital.

For example, all of the following are required at our rehabilitation hospital - and not at the average nursing home:

  • Frequent visits by attending physician, most often a physiatrist
  • Multidisciplinary, collaborative team approach
  • Specialty nursing training
  • Leading rehabilitation expertise
  • Weekly team conference
  • Exceptionally trained therapists
  • State of the art therapy gyms and rehabilitation technology

In addition, our hospital requires a minimum of three hours a day of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and/or speech therapy, at least five days per week. At nursing homes there is no minimum.

While RN oversight and availability is required 24-hours a day at our hospital, the requirement at nursing homes is only a minimum of eight consecutive hours per day.

Finally, our hospital requires between five and seven and a half nursing hours per patient per day, while the standard for nursing homes is usually between two and a half and four hours.

The expert team of independent private practice physicians working in conjunction with HealthSouth nurses, therapists and hospital support staff is committed to providing safe, quality and cost effective care to all.

We understand you want the best care available. That’s why it’s important that you consider our hospital.

From the time Dad went to HealthSouth, until the minute he left, it was obvious that the level of care was superior. The staff was never too busy to answer our questions; they were always available.
